To create an Org Chart or to not...

We’ll just jump right into and say create an Org Chart. Even if it's just your name in every slot.

This is a principle I re-learned from The E-Myth, but it's something that I created for Fleecher Designs back in 2019 with an executive coach.

Here’s where we landed…

  • Senior Designer: Work directly with clients to transform ideas into amazing designs that WOW clients and inspire the creative team.

  • Junior Designer: Support the Sr. Designer with design projects and proactively fill extra time by continuing design education.

  • Operations: Support the creative team with effective systems that keep projects on track and lead clients through the creative process.

  • Sales: Discover and book the best clients that drive financial growth and inspire the creative team.

  • Marketing: Communicate our business mission to all audiences by celebrating our clients and team in order to drive growth and increase exposure.

  • Content/Strategy: Direct content and write engaging copy for the creative, sales, and marketing teams to communicate ideas quickly.

  • Photographer: Tell great stories about our team and clients to inspire our audience.

Out of these 7 slots, I fill 5 of them for now. Maybe one day, we’ll have a robust team of 7 or maybe we’ll intentionally keep the team small but agile, each of us wearing multiple hats to accomplish the same goal. Regardless of our team size, naming these crucial roles helps me hire smart and contract out well.
